THE MICHAEL AND ALICE KUHN FOUNDATION
GRANT GUIDELINES
1. The Michael and Alice Kuhn Foundation provides grants to 501(c)(3) organizations only.
2. The foundation does not accept unsolicited grant applications. All grantees must be approved prior
to submitting an application.
3. All grants must be for United States domestic purposes only.
4. The Foundation does not award grants to international students who are residing in the U.S. on F or J Visas.
5. The annual grant deadline is typically at the start of November for funding in the following calendar year. Grants will be awarded following the annual
meeting of the board of trustees.
6. The grant submission process will be detailed when an organization is invited to apply for funding. The application includes the following
information:
A. Grant proposal:
i) Project description
ii) Statement of fit with Kuhn Foundation mission
iii) Impact and beneficiaries
iv) Outcomes and project evaluation details
v) Project budget
vi) Amount requested
vii) Focus area of grant: (1) Social Justice: Policy & Advocacy; (2) Social Justice:
Organizing and Advocacy; (3) Education
B. Organization information & required attachments:
i) 501(c)(3) determination letter from IRS
ii) Project budget
iii) Organization budget & actuals for prior fiscal year
iv) Organization budget & actuals for current fiscal year
(to-date)
v) Brief biological sketch of key program personnel, officers, and board of
directors
vi) Statement on how the organization defines living wage with respect to its own
compensation practices
